Network and longitudinal section drawings

The network diagram or plan layout used in DRAINS can be imported or exported as a DXF file using the processes available in the Export  DXF Plann option in the File menu.

DRAINS can present information in a spatially-accurate way, using appropriate X and Y coordinates. This would be the case when data is entered from a DXF file. However, there may be difficulties in reading names of items and numerical results placed beside components, especially in large systems. It will be necessary to zoom in to see this detail.

DRAINS provides a longitudinal view of pipe links from the pop-up menu for pipes, as shown below. This is diagrammatic and cannot be resized.  It is intended only as a means of viewing and presenting key results.

A properly-scaled longitudinal section can be produced by exporting information in a DXF file to a suitable drawing or CAD package. This is done using the Export  DXF Long Section option in the File menu.

The DXF drawing produced shows pipe long sections with chainages, pipe invert levels and ground surface levels. It forms the basis of a construction drawing to which you can add notes, a title block and other details. A wizard guides you through the steps involved.

Consult Exporting DXF Longitudinal Section Drawings for more information about this.
