Customise storms property sheet

Customise storms property sheet

When called from a Sub-catchment property sheet, this window allows you to vary the rainfalls that apply to that particular sub-catchment. It has features that supplement the constant rainfall multiplier provided in DRAINS.

For minor or major storms, you can nominate the storm to be used in each case included in the Select storms property sheets that define the default storm to be used. You might nominate a different storm pattern if you wish to apply different patterns derived from rain gauges in a Thiessen Polygon network to different parts of the catchment, as shown below

The time lag can be used to model temporal variations, such as a storm moving across a catchment, setting different time lags. For, example, the pattern shown below will specify a storm moving down the catchment.

The rainfall multiplier can be used to vary the depth or intensity of rainfall over particular sub-catchments, while maintaining a common pattern. This can be applied when the intensity is known to vary, as shown below.

These three options can be used together to specify complex temporal variations of rainfalls in space and time.  They will be particularly useful for calibrating models to real storm data, and for exploring complex design situations such as those involving moving storms.
