Stream routing reach tool

Stream routing reach tool

This link type, , is used to connect nodes and sub-catchments in RORB and WBNM storage routing models that can be used to model broad-scale rural and urban catchments.  It performs non-linear routing in these models (the RAFTS storage routing model uses a different link, the same as the overflow route that is used to model overflows from pits and other devices).

This stream routing reach link can only be drawn if a RORB or WBNM model has been selected as the hydrological model.

To draw this in the Main Window, click on the tool to change the cursor to a pencil. Use the pointer to define the upstream and downstream ends of the reach, clicking on the places where each is to be located. The reach appears as a stretching blue dashed line.

You can enter several routes without having to refer back to the Toolbar or Draw menu by holding down the shift key as you click. If you enter a route by mistake, hold your pointer at some place along it, press the right mouse button to open a small menu, and select Delete to get rid of it. Alternatively, you can click on the link to make "handles" (black squares) appear at its ends, and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

To enter data for the reach, right-click while holding the mouse pointer on a point along the route. This opens a small menu. Selecting Edit Data from this opens the Overflow Route property sheet.
