Project menu

Project menu

This menu allows you to input or review some of the basic information needed to carry out calculations with DRAINS.

The choices are:

  • Hydrological Models
opens a set of dialog boxes that define the hydrological rainfall-runoff model used for catchments. Three kinds of model are available - the
Horton (ILSAX) hydrological model, the rational method model and storage routing models of the RORB, RAFTS and WBNM types.

  • Rainfall Data
calls a dialog box that is used to input or edit hyetographs or rainfall patterns if a hydrograph model such as Horton (ILSAX),
ERM or the ARR 2019 IL-CL model is chosen, or an I-F-D rainfall relationship if the rational method model is selected.

  • If a hydrological model other than the rational method is selected, Select Major Storms and Select Minor Storm appear on the menu. These open up dialog boxes of the type shown below, where you can select the storms to be used in analysis and design runs.

Options
  1. Calls up a property sheet in which various project parameters and choices can be specified. Refer to the Project Options property sheet for details.
  1. Description calls up a dialog box where you can enter a title and description of the project, together with whatever comments or notes you wish to make. See the Description property sheet for details.
  • Pipe Data Base sets up and maintains a data base of pipe types from which you can select the type you require.

  • Pit Data Base sets up and maintains a data base of pit types from which you can select the types of inlet that you require.

  • Overflow Route Data Base opens the data base used to define a standard set of overflow route cross-sections.

  • Default Data Base allows you to select a new set of pit and pipe data, which will be stored in the C:/Program Files/Drains/Program folder as a Drains.db1 file. A collection of .db1 files can be stored in this folder under different names.

DRAINS provides standard sets of inlet capacity data for pits from various regions of Australia, which carry a date, as they are occasionally updated. You can add your own relationships.
