Edit Menu

This menu provides tools that assist with the creation and inspection of a drainage system diagram.

There are eight options:

  • The option Undo can be used to undo the one or more drawing operations.

  • The option Redo reverses an Undo.

  • The Copy Data to Spreadsheet option transfers details of the drainage system to the Windows Clipboard, from where it can be transferred to a spreadsheet.

  • The Copy Results to Spreadsheet option transfers results of the latest run to the Windows Clipboard, from where it can be transferred to a spreadsheet.

  • The Copy Check HGL to Spreadsheet option only applies with rational method calculations, although it does provide some results for other model runs. It transfers results from a simplified checking procedure for pipe hydraulic grade lines to a spreadsheet.

  • The Copy Notes to Spreadsheet option copies all the notes that have been made in the property sheets for pits, pipes and sub-catchments to the Clipboard.
  • The Paste Date from Spreadsheet option reads back altered data from a data spreadsheet created by a transfer from DRAINS.

  • The Find option opens a small dialog box into which you can enter the label (or name) of a particular component. DRAINS locates this and positions the system diagram on the screen so that this component is in the top left corner. It is necessarily to specify the name exactly, allowing for blanks and the case of letters.

This option can also be implemented by pressing the Ctrl + F keys. If there are a large number of  components to be corrected, the comments stored on the Clipboard can be be pasted into Word or Excel. Individual component names can be copied from this text, and pasted into the Find window:

  • The Find ????? option locates components that are labelled "?????" indicating that the data for these is incomplete or that the component is not correctly connected to other components.
