Overflow route from a RAFTS storage routing node

When applying storage routing models, there are different types of stream routing reaches for the RORB and WBNM models. The RAFTS model uses the same overflow route as for pits for routing through links. Data must be provided on two pages.  In the first, translation or kinematic wave routing must be specified, as shown below:




The kinematic wave procedure follows a method described in F. M. Henderson's Open Channel Flow, Macmillan, 1966 and is recommended over the simpler translation procedure.

In the second page, labelled Cross Section Data, a representative cross -section and slope for the stream channel must be specified.
