Node property sheet (for a simple node)

Node property sheet (for a simple node)

This property sheet takes different forms, depending whether the node in located within a network or at its outlet.

(a) Connection Nodes

Here a simple node acts as a connection point between overflow route, channel and pipe reaches.

You need to provide a node name and a surface elevation (when linking pipes, channels and overflow routes employed with unsteady flow calculations).

Although pipe systems can be connected using nodes, it is recommended that you use pits rather than nodes as junctions, as you can specify head loss factors at pits. Sub-catchments can be connected to nodes and baseflows or user-provided hydrographs can also be added at these points.

(b) Outlet Nodes

The property sheet for nodes that act as outlets or outfalls requires more information:

You can choose to have a free outfall, or you can nominate a constant tailwater level. Different levels can apply for storms of different magnitudes.
